Election Day 2016 turned out to be one of the most historic yet, and our crew watched it unfold live at NBC Studios while assisting on a graphics build we developed for the network prior to the big day. The package featured the full gamut of graphics, from full screens to a ticker and side panel – all of which provided all the day’s results, covering the presidency and propositions, as well as the senate and house races.
We worked with NBC News on the primaries, and this time around, in addition to traditional on-screen graphics, they wanted to populate video walls behind talent with graphics. Taking initial designs and animations provided by Artworks and Block & Tackle, we set them up with a new optimized workflow based on transition logic that makes it easy to implement quick modifications or additions on-demand. All of the scenes were created in Viz, and scripted commands were then given to NBC’s programmer for greater control.
