SBS-Discovery scored big with ice hockey fans this year with its coverage of the IIHF World Championship, which featured reimagined video wall graphics. With help from the crew at RCS, the network was able to create a custom look for the wall that matched the host broadcaster’s graphics and complemented the studio’s signature green environment.
To introduce depth and subtle movement to the design, our team produced an atmospheric ice rink background for the wall, which interlaces seamlessly with live video inputs. We then created layered 3D elements to float within the background – from flags to tournament artwork, imagery and text. Drawing on inspiration from player video clips, we also built graphics, including player profiles, team lineups, head-to-head and more. Separately, we re-skinned SBS-Discovery’s existing LaunchPad touchscreen solution with a matching ice hockey look-and-feel to provide a hub for video analysis including Piero telestration.
After acquiring the broadcast rights for FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro football qualifiers, Scandinavian media group SBS Discovery enlisted RCS to help reimagine its on-air image. RCS collaborated with sports production company Fotball Media to overhaul SBS’s studio with an integrated graphics workflow that includes two visually striking video walls powered by VizRT solutions and an intuitive, interactive touchscreen solution for match analysis. SBS will use the new integrated graphics workflow for all of the UEFA Euro 2016 football qualifiers and the European qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
